Legal Officer

Job Summary

Draft, review, and revise legal documents including grant agreements, subcontracts, and vendor contracts to protect organizational interests. Conduct due diligence and risk assessments for subgrantees and subcontractors, then support negotiations with partners to ensure compliance with donor and internal standards. Provide legal analysis and advisory support across departments by monitoring regulatory changes and developing legal templates. Manage legal file systems and assist in creating compliance checklists for funding awards. Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information and supporting the Grants & Contract team in operational functions.

Required Qualifications

  • Existing work authorization in Indonesia
  • Bachelor's degree in law
  • Minimum 2 (two) years of experience as corporate legal officer (non-litigation)
  • Experience working in nonprofit/international development organizations
  • Experience in supporting drafting, reviewing, and management of legal documents, including agreements, contract, MoU, and other legal instruments
  • Experience supporting general corporate due diligence (not LDD)
  • A good understanding of general corporate and civil law, and Yayasan law
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in reviewing legal documents, identifying legal and operational risks, conducting legal research, and ensure alignment of documents with internal organizational policies
  • Proficient in legal research and ability to interpret legal language into practical guidance
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concept, findings, and advice to non-legal backgrounds audience
  • Strong team player with the ability to work across institutional departments/programs
  • Highly organized and systematic with strong time management skills and ability to juggle competing priorities
  • Demonstrate integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality
  • Professional fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English for both verbal and written communications
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
  • Legally able to work in Indonesia
  • Must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position
  • Must be available for 8 days per month in the office
  • Must be based in WRI Indonesia, Jakarta
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in non-profit organizations (especially in operations)
  • Experience with grant, subgrant, and vendor agreements
  • Working knowledge of Workday, Workday Strategic Sourcing, and Salesforce
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
