Job Summary

Legal Officer in the Vetting Team within the Legal Department, reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel. Responsible for supporting the execution and administration of legal documentation, liaising with notaries and external stakeholders, and assisting with post-deed processes to safeguard the Bank’s legal and security interests. Duties include appearing on behalf of the Bank on contracts of waivers, postponements, cancellations, and subrogations, both at the Bank’s premises and offsite; managing post-deed procedures; ordering and checking post deed Land Registry Certificates; liaising with Notaries regarding appointments and continuations; overseeing succession duties; and assisting the Legal Department with contracts, vetting, and other legal tasks as required. Requires familiarity with Maltese notarial legislation and civil law, strong communication skills in Maltese and English, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous banking or notarial experience
  • Sound understanding of Maltese notarial legislation and civil law principles
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Maltese and English
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
