Job Summary

Legal Intern supporting the Justice Advisory Committee and Justice Center initiatives. The role focuses on legal research, training development, and creation of case-informed resources to support attorneys, courts, families, and policymakers, with a focus on disability-informed legal frameworks and justice-system reform. Responsibilities include conducting legal research on topics related to FASD and the justice system (competency, Miranda rights, sentencing, diversion, disability accommodations), drafting and supporting briefs, developing training materials for judges, defense attorneys, prosecutors, and others, and assisting with committee materials and coordination. Requires current law student in good standing, strong research and writing, interest in criminal/juvenile/disability law or public policy, and ability to synthesize multidisciplinary information; position is unpaid with academic credit or volunteer hours and requires 10–15 hours per week remotely (U.S.-based).

Required Qualifications

  • Current law student (1L, 2L, or 3L) in good academic standing
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Interest in criminal law, juvenile justice, disability law, public defense, prosecution, or public policy
  • Ability to synthesize complex information across disciplines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
