Job Summary
Coordinate the complete lifecycle of legal and administrative records from creation through retention and final disposition, maintaining accurate tracking of physical files, storage containers, barcodes, and offsite locations. Process requests for file retrieval, transfers, indexing, and record updates while organizing client and firm records according to established information governance standards. Perform quality reviews to ensure accurate indexing and labeling, generate activity reports and inventory metrics for leadership, and assist with onboarding personnel regarding records management procedures. Collaborate with Information Governance leadership to improve operational workflows and support special projects involving records migration, digitization, and auditing. Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive client and firm information in a hybrid environment within Detroit, Michigan.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience within a legal, administrative, records management, information governance, or professional services environment
- Previous experience supporting records management, document management, information governance, or legal records operations
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced office environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments and office locations
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidential information
- Must currently reside within commuting distance of Detroit, Michigan
- U.S. citizens or individuals authorized to work in the United States only
- No experience supporting records management, information governance, document management, or comparable administrative functions
- Poor organizational skills or inability to maintain accurate records
- Limited Microsoft Office proficiency
- Inability to work effectively within a hybrid environment

Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Information Governance or Records Management within a law firm or other professional services organization
- Familiarity with legal records management software, electronic document management systems (DMS), or records tracking platforms
- Experience coordinating records retention, disposition, offsite storage, and file inventory processes
- Knowledge of legal records compliance, document retention policies, and information governance best practices
- Experience supporting attorneys, legal assistants, paralegals, and administrative professionals
- Strong reporting, auditing, and process improvement experience
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational workflows while maintaining exceptional records accuracy
- Stable employment history demonstrating long-term professional growth, reliability, and accountability
- Previous law firm Information Governance or Records Management experience
- Extensive knowledge of legal records retention, document lifecycle management, and compliance procedures
- Experience supporting firm-wide records audits, digitization initiatives, and process improvement projects
- Strong analytical and reporting abilities with exceptional documentation accuracy
- Experience implementing workflow improvements that enhance operational efficiency
- Outstanding customer service skills when supporting attorneys and legal professionals
