Legal Employment Counsel (Part time)

Job Summary

Provide expert counsel on employment law issues, including grievances, dismissals, contracts, and benefits. Serve as a trusted advisor to the People and Culture team and business leaders, guiding decision-making on employee relations, risk management, and complex workplace issues. Manage employment litigation and disputes while monitoring regional developments in Spanish employment laws to adjust policies and provide actionable advice. Support cross-border projects involving policy harmonization and compliance initiatives. Report to the Senior Legal Counsel in Barcelona, Spain, with a part-time schedule. Fluency in English and Spanish is required, along with a law degree and admission to practice in Spain.

Required Qualifications

  • Law degree with admission to practice in at least Spain
  • Extensive experience at an in-house legal department of a multinational organization
  • Proven success in advising on complex Spanish employment law is essential, including obligations regarding works councils, employee representatives and union representation, with hands-on experience of consultation and negotiation processes
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent written and oral communication skills in both languages
  • The ability to think analytically and pragmatically to provide innovative, proactive advice
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to interact effectively and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the business, along with external advisors
  • Comfortable hitting the ground running in fast paced scale-up environments
  • You are a team player with a humble attitude and a hunger to make an impact in a role where the sky's the limit
  • Experience working with AI technologies to increase efficiency
  • Comfortable with working across time zones

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of employment law in other jurisdictions, particularly the other regions in EMEA
  • Experience working in high growth technology companies
