Job Summary

Serve as primary legal advisor to North American business leaders, providing risk-based counsel on commercial, operational, regulatory, and strategic matters. Lead the regional trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to import/export regulations, sanctions, and customs laws. Implement enterprise legal, compliance, and risk management frameworks to identify and mitigate legal, contractual, and reputational risks. Develop and enhance compliance policies, governance structures, and ethics initiatives. Manage property, casualty, and liability insurance programs while partnering with global IP teams to protect assets. Mentor legal professionals and translate corporate legal frameworks to address US-specific needs. This role requires a JD, 10+ years of progressive legal experience, and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited US based law school
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive legal experience, with a strong focus on corporate compliance and ethics programs
  • Proven ability to advise business leaders on complex compliance matters and deliver practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Demonstrated experience conducting regulatory and corporate compliance risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies
  • Ability to operate independently while balancing legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong track record of effectively engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders across functions and levels
  • Executive presence with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment proactively
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or supervising legal or compliance professionals

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing corporate compliance programs, policies, and training initiatives strongly preferred
  • Global perspective with experience operating in complex, multinational environments and sensitivity to cultural and regional differences
