Job Summary
Provide internal legal advice on day-to-day commercial matters and strategic initiatives, with an emphasis on real property and land use. Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements for commercial real estate, contractor employment, and data licensing. Direct external legal advisors and perform independent research on statutes, regulations, and case law. Assist with corporate governance requirements and support business team relationships with external stakeholders. This role reports to the VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, based in Vancouver (or Nanaimo).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- LLB/JD
- Minimum 5 years of Canadian Bar experience
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of BC
- Expertise in Commercial Real Estate law in BC
Desired Qualifications
- 7+ years of Canadian Bar experience
- Experience from a national or regional law firm
- Familiarity with a variety of Crown tenures
