Legal Counsel

Job Summary
Provide accurate and timely legal counsel to stakeholders on commercial, anti-trust, and regulatory matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts for M&A, supply, and distribution. Manage disputes and litigation strategy, liaise with external counsel, and oversee insurance claims. Act as the regional compliance point of contact, training business teams and ensuring Group program implementation. Oversee corporate governance, manage company secretarial networks, and support acquisitions and restructurings. Onboard by November 1, 2026, for a full-time permanent role in SEA and ANZ.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or master of degree in law from a reputable law school
- bar qualification in Malaysia or other commonwealth countries
- 8 to 10 years of broad-based commercial legal experience
- experience in private practice or in-house
- work experience in an industrial MNC
- excellent knowledge and understanding of laws of Malaysia (including corporate, contract, commercial and anti-trust laws)
- excellent legal and strategic judgment
- strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills
- high level of integrity
- meticulous
- quick learner
- experience in handling merger and acquisitions and joint venture deals
- excellent written and verbal communication
- excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
- ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable advice for the business
- fluency in business and legal English (both speaking and writing)
Desired Qualifications
- bar qualification in Malaysia or other commonwealth countries is a plus
- work experience in an industrial MNC is preferred
- excellent knowledge and understanding of laws of Malaysia (including corporate, contract, commercial and anti-trust laws) and other laws under SEA, ANZ or other common law jurisdiction is a plus
- Other language skills are a plus
