Job Summary
Draft pleadings and motion materials while representing HCRA at the Licence Appeal Tribunal and other legal proceedings. Independently manage assigned litigation and enforcement matters, assessing inspections and investigations to determine the viability of prosecutions or regulatory actions. Brief senior leadership on the status of assigned matters, providing recommendations on hearing strategy and settlement options, and escalating significant legal issues as appropriate. Conduct legal research, advise on legislative and regulatory developments, and support special initiatives involving policy change. This permanent, full-time backfill position offers a flexible hybrid environment with a salary range of $105,000 to $150,000 CAD. Candidates must be called to the Bar of Ontario with at least three years of post-call experience in civil, criminal, or regulatory litigation.
Required Qualifications
- Called to the Bar of Ontario
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- At least three years of post-call experience
- Meaningful experience in civil, criminal, regulatory or professional discipline litigation
Desired Qualifications
- Experience conducting trials, administrative hearings, motions, mediations or other contested proceedings
- Experience with professional regulatory enforcement matters
- Familiarity with complaints and investigations processes
- Experience with administrative authorities
- Experience with the new home construction sector
