Legal Counsel (EU)

Job Summary
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including technology supply contracts, distribution agreements, and government procurement tenders. Support international corporate governance, compliance registrations, and subsidiary management while advising on EU, UK, and Australian dual-use and defence export controls. Assist with licenses, end-user documentation, sanctions screening, and cross-border compliance processes to safeguard the company's interests across a complex international operating environment. Contribute to internal compliance frameworks covering NATO, privacy, cybersecurity, and trade compliance, and assist in developing legal policies and training materials. Manage external counsel for disputes and local regulatory issues, and support IP protection and licensing in collaboration with engineering teams. This Amsterdam-based role reports directly to the General Counsel, working closely with colleagues in Australia, the US, Europe, and the Middle East within a hypergrowth defence technology environment.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (Australia, Ireland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, etc.)
- Understanding of and experience with EU regulatory frameworks
- 5 –7+ years post‐qualification experience
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Demonstrated ability to work independently across multiple time zones and business units
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Amsterdam‐based
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in defence, security, aerospace, technology, or other government‐facing industries
- Familiarity with international trade compliance or government contracting
- Ability to manage workload across varying priorities in a scale‐up environment
