Job Summary
Legal Counsel & Contract Manager for Thales' Southeast Asia region within the Legal, Contract and Compliance (LC&C) Department. The role supports the Mobile Connectivity Solutions (MCS) Business Line and transversal activities across Southeast Asia and Taiwan, advising on legally relevant contractual structures during bids and offers, drafting and negotiating contracts with clients/partners/subcontractors, and ensuring consistency with Thales’ interests. Responsibilities include risk analysis and mitigation planning, preparation and negotiation of cooperation agreements (LOIs, MOUs, JV agreements, etc.), providing contract guidance to purchasing, and maintaining contractual frameworks throughout project execution. The role also entails contributing to the Group’s compliance program (antitrust, anticorruption, personal data protection including GDPR, trade compliance), performing third-party integrity screening, delivering training to operational teams, coordinating with external counsels, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration within a diverse, globally distributed team. Regular travel within the region and occasional travel to Europe are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree-level qualification in Law, Contract Management, Business, or related field including a Specialization in Law
- 8 to 10 years of demonstrated experience as a legal counsel in an international context within a multinational company
- Familiarity with Cloud related projects and SaaS licensing models
- Understanding of personal data protection and intellectual property rights in licensing
- Knowledge of Thales’ compliance program and ability to perform third-party screening and due diligence
- Analytical and synthesis skills; ability to propose pragmatic solutions
- Strong proactivity, stakeholder management, and prioritization
- Good listening and communication skills; intercultural awareness
- Proficiency with IT tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel regularly within the Region (monthly) and occasionally to Europe (annually)
- Ability to contribute to training and cross-functional initiatives
