Job Summary
Legal Counsel (Construction) at GTAA focusing on major infrastructure projects from procurement through completion; responsibilities include responding to bidders’ questions, reviewing documents, advising on risk, preparing briefs/presentations with senior counsel, instructing external counsel, and handling a mix of corporate/commercial work in addition to construction law; requires a law degree (LL.B/J.D.) and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, 2–4 years of construction law experience, experience negotiating and drafting construction contracts/RFPs, construction litigation management, ability to obtain Transportation Security Clearance, and a flexible, collaborative approach for interaction with business groups.
Required Qualifications
- Law degree (LL.B or J.D.) and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 2-4 years of construction law experience (ideally, on both the solicitor and litigation side)
- Experience negotiating and drafting construction contracts, RFP documents, advising on project risk
- Experience with construction litigation management and project procurement
- Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
