Job Summary

Prepare spend analysis reports, compile and submit month-end journal entries, and advise department members on compliance and policy-driven accounting practices. Facilitate monthly meetings with attorneys regarding spending forecasts, evaluate outside legal vendor invoices for compliance, and act as the system administrator for the ebilling system. Research and draft responses to regulatory inquiries related to legal spend, including FERC audits and DOJ requests. This role supports legal spend strategy, outside counsel billing management, and process automation within the Legal Department at Xcel Energy.

Required Qualifications

  • Business related bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized
  • Must be persistent
  • Must be polite
  • Must exercise judgment and discretion in working with the Legal Services staff, outside counsel and other third-party billing departments

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of law department operation
  • Knowledge of legal terms and concepts
  • Software experience with Legal eBilling/Matter Management systems
  • Software experience with SAP
  • Software experience with Business Objects
  • Software experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Access)
  • Software experience with document management system
