Job Summary
Legal Assistant at Tyson & Mendes for Civil litigation and insurance defense. Responsibilities include drafting and e-filing pleadings, managing case calendars, scheduling depositions/hearings, coordinating trial preparation, researching with Westlaw, coordinating attorney travel, and assisting with trial and daily administrative tasks. Requires 3+ years of litigation-support experience, strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat, and ability to work independently and under deadlines. Hybrid schedule with in-office as needed; benefits and compensation include $38-$46/hour, 37.5-hour workweek, and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a litigation legal assistant
- Preferred insurance defense and/or personal injury experience
- Solid understanding of civil litigation (state, federal, and appellate calendar deadlines and rules)
- Experience with state, federal, and appellate court filings in California
- High proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
- Handle sensitive and confidential information
- Manage a diverse workload and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Work collaboratively within a team environment under tight deadlines
- Articulate, organized and a team player with excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
