Job Summary
Legal Assistant for the Supervising Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Tippecanoe County Prosecuting Attorney’s office, providing clerical, legal, and technical support. Drafts and maintains a wide variety of legal documents (discovery, subpoenas, plea agreements, jury instructions, petitions, orders, information, affidavits, motions to dismiss, etc.) and files electronically in Prosecutor Criminal Management Systems for initial and subsequent e-filing. Handles calendar duties, reviews diversions and plea agreements, prepares and e-files motions to dismiss or petitions for bench trials, and maintains case-related logs. Communicates with attorneys and law enforcement, assists with misdemeanor and Level 6 felony filings, and maintains confidentiality of department information. Requires ability to supervise part-time staff and interns, provide training, and coordinate with DPAs and police officers; proficient in various office software and able to work under deadlines in a standard office environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, and at least one year applicable work experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
