Job Summary
Legal Assistant at a large consumer-rights law firm; responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, scheduling calendar hearings and deadlines, organizing case files and exhibits, handling pleadings and discovery indexes, improving administrative processes, gathering and organizing evidence, drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents, researching regulations and laws to prepare reports and case files, managing client billing and resolving billing issues, coordinating with clients and witnesses for meetings and depositions, maintaining filing systems (paper and electronic); requires on-site work in Sarasota, FL, with 1+ year experience in law-adjacent roles, and strong written and verbal communication, organizational and computer skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least 1 year of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department)
- Experience in Social Security, Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Premises Liability, or other injury related practice areas (preferred)
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Proficient in calendar depositions, mediation, and hearings
- Extensive computer and database experience; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; typing no less than 35 wpm
