Job Summary
Legal Assistant with 3+ years of experience supporting Employment Law and Commercial Litigation. Manages attorneys’ calendars, dockets, and deadlines; performs e-filing in state and federal courts and with agencies such as the EEOC and NLRB; coordinates and supports litigation matters, including document management, filings, and general case support; screens client calls and correspondence; drafts, formats, and prepares emails, confidential correspondence, and complex legal documents; maintains attorney billing processes and creates/manipulates spreadsheet data; maintains organized client files in document management systems and ensures accuracy of records; anticipates attorney needs and proactively manages workflow; provides back-up support to other legal assistants; requires strong written/verbal communication, organization, ownership, and a proactive, collaborative approach. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, experience with NetDocuments and billing systems is preferred; familiarity with Nuance or similar PDF editing tools is a plus. Education: high school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably within Employment Law and Commercial Litigation
- Demonstrated experience supporting litigation matters in a deadline-driven environment; exposure to discovery, filings, and trial preparation is strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal court filing procedures
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
- High level of professionalism in all interactions with attorneys, clients, and colleagues
- Skills & Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work and consistently meet deadlines
- Proactive, solution-oriented approach with the ability to anticipate needs
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to teamwork and mutual support
- Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential client and firm information
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (document formatting, styles, tables of contents)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data manipulation
- Experience with document management systems (e.g., NetDocuments) preferred
- Experience with billing systems preferred
- Familiarity with Nuance or similar PDF editing tools is a plus
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
