Job Summary
Answer phones, field client questions, and direct clients in a courteous manner while managing document drop-offs and daily mail processing. Maintain organized client files, update online legal databases, and prepare weekly applications to USCIS and other agencies. Schedule and confirm legal consultations, send appointment reminders, and perform weekly client intakes including data entry and payment collection. Follow up on pending cases, assist with case management and referrals, and manage inventory and monthly data reports. Requires written and oral fluency in English/Spanish, 1-2 years of administrative experience, and occasional weekend hours for workshops.
Required Qualifications
- Written and oral fluency in English/Spanish
- 1-2 years administrative experience
- Access to reliable transportation and ability to work in the office
- Travel will be expected between various sites within Chicago city limits
- Occasional weekend hours required for Saturday workshops
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with legal ethical and professional rules of conduct
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and sensitivity to challenges of the immigrant community
- MUST BE A MEMBER OF AFSCME OR JOIN AFTER 30 DAYS
Desired Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent preferred
- Experience with legal immigration services preferred
- Experience with data management software preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
