Job Summary
Legacy Places intern will research, compile, and visualize a roster of potential conservation sites and partners focused on Underground Railroad and freedom-ways, developing contacts for collaboration on visioning, revitalization, stewardship, and long-term ownership. The role involves organizing parcel information, creating visualizations (maps/graphics), and coordinating with government and nonprofit partners. Total internship spans 375 hours with negotiable start/end dates. Remote work is available with a preference for candidates in the Atlanta or Birmingham metro area; work may involve occasional site visits to historic locations.
Required Qualifications
- Experience conducting archival/historic research
- Background in data organization and analysis
- Experience in data visualization and storytelling
- Interest in historic preservation and conservation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
