Legacy Extended Care Staff (LEC)

Job Summary

Plan activities for children in the extended care program, supervise all activities to ensure safety inside and outside the classroom, manage behavioral issues, and help children establish good habits of personal hygiene. Treat all children with dignity and respect while maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to the school. Participate in CPR–First Aid training and demonstrate flexibility as a team player. Work 2:30–6:00 pm daily with monthly staff development days from 8–4:00 pm. Be a Christian role model, support the school's Statement of Faith, and maintain confidentiality in classroom operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a warm and friendly personality
  • Must be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others
  • Must be able to relate well to children and parents/guardians
  • Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school's program and philosophy
  • Must possess evidence of competence in area of instruction, or other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator
  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer
  • Must have specific vision abilities including Close vision, Distance vision and Depth perception
  • Must have the ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
  • Must have the ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
  • Must speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
  • Must have physical agility to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
  • Must acknowledge Christ as Savior
  • Must support the school's Statement of Faith and Philosophy Statement
  • Must be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others
  • Must be committed to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct
  • Must have a working knowledge of and follow LCA's Employee Handbook, Parent & Student Handbook
  • Must sign and live by the school's Lifestyle Statement and Moral Integrity Statement as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry
  • Must maintain confidentiality in the operation of the classroom and the school
  • Must refrain from unwholesome talk, including profanity, slang or jokes that may be offensive
  • Must place his/her school ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities
  • Must maintain a personal appearance that models cleanliness, modesty, and good taste consistent with school policy
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, handbooks, and procedure manuals
  • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy
  • Must have basic proficiency in word processing
  • Must have basic proficiency in e-mailing
  • Must have basic proficiency in accessing the Internet
  • Must be able to participate in CPR – First Aid training
