Job Summary
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Private Law responsible for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contributing to research. Responsibilities include teaching and supervising postgraduate students, maintaining a research profile and publication output, and contributing to Faculty and Departmental activities as well as socially responsive/public service. For the Lecturer track, a Master’s degree with lecturing/teaching experience and a commitment to academic leadership is required; for the Senior Lecturer track, a Doctoral degree in Private Law, postgraduate supervision, and an established research publication record, plus administrative or service contributions, are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree (NQF 9 level) with strong academic record in relevant legal fields
- Some lecturing experience (including small group teaching) in relevant legal fields or equivalent relevant work experience
- Some record of socially responsive activities, or public or professional service
- Doctoral degree (NQF 10 level) in Private Law (for Senior Lecturer)
- Lecturing experience and/or equivalent relevant work experience (Senior Lecturer)
- Some record of postgraduate supervision (Senior Lecturer)
- Established record of research publications in Private Law (Senior Lecturer)
- Some evidence of active contribution to department- and faculty-level academic administration (Senior Lecturer)
- Demonstrable capacity to supervise students (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer)
