Job Summary

Develop and deliver courses in AI and communication, design curricula, and assess students while providing academic counselling. Establish a research program focused on AI tools, ethical frameworks, and their impacts on media industries, seeking and managing external research funding to publish in reputable journals. Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, offering coaching and professional development while resolving conflicts in accordance with university policy. Engage in internal service roles, mentor staff, and build partnerships with external stakeholders to address challenges AI presents to society.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Communication, Media or a relevant field
  • Lecturer (Level B): A growing profile in teaching and research in the discipline area
  • Lecturer (Level B): A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences
  • Lecturer (Level B): Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding
  • Lecturer (Level B): Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups
  • Lecturer (Level B): Experience in course coordination and contribution to the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area
  • Lecturer (Level B): A growing record of supervision of honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion
  • Lecturer (Level B): Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): An established profile in teaching and research in the discipline area
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): National recognition in the area of expertise, with an internationally developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journal and presenting at conferences
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): A solid record of supervision of honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities
