Job Summary

Establish a competitive and innovative research programme to attract external funding while teaching and coordinating courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Supervise postgraduate students towards Honours, Masters, and Doctoral degrees, and develop inter-institutional research projects, including potential teaching at international partner institutions in China. Contribute to service-related activities for the University and community, communicating science and outreach to address challenges relevant to New Zealanders. Collaborate collegially with other research groups within the School of Biological Sciences to enhance research output and teaching quality. This full-time permanent role supports the Faculty of Science's mission to improve health outcomes for New Zealanders through biomedical science research and education.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant discipline
  • demonstrated history of research excellence, with peer-reviewed publications and impact
  • passionate about student development
  • willing to support and mentor our students at all levels
  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Taumata Teitei
  • synergy or complementarity with other research groups within SBS
  • ability to broaden the School's research expertise and/or potential for translation in areas such as infection and immunity, molecular physiology and biomedical technologies
