Job Summary
Conduct theory lectures and kitchen pastry practical sessions while ensuring an 85% pass rate and 90% throughput rate. Manage student tracking, counselling, and support; apply assessment principles per the assessor code of conduct. Lead all competitions, oversee Pastry Based Excursions, and contribute to curriculum development and improvement. Maintain industry time and research standards. This role includes Open Day Sweet Snacks duties and requires a minimum NQF 5 qualification, City and Guilds Diploma, and CATHSSETA scoping. Candidates must hold Assessors and Moderators certificates, be certified for outcome-based assessment, possess five years of pastry experience, and have two years in lecturing or teaching. Managerial experience is needed, along with expertise in chocolate work, sugar craft, bread making, cake decorating, and basic pastry fundamentals.
Required Qualifications
- NQF 5 qualification in the hospitality industry
- City and Guilds Diploma in Food Prep and Cooking & Patisserie
- CATHSSETA scoping – Unit 73292
- Assessors and Moderators certificate
- Certified to conduct outcome-based assessment
- Minimum 5 years Pastry experience
- Minimum 2 years lecturing / teaching/assessor
