Job Summary
The Lecturer of Physics is a non-tenure track faculty position responsible for developing, coordinating, and teaching Physics courses in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education. Responsibilities include teaching 15 credit hours per semester, collaborating with faculty, contributing to curriculum development, and serving on various committees. Candidates must have a Master's degree in Physics or a related field, with documented teaching excellence and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. and online teaching experience.
Required Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Physics, or a closely related field with at least 18 semester credit hours in physics at the graduate level
- Ability to teach various courses within our Physics program
- A passion and patience for teaching students’ foundational skills in physics
- Evidence of excellence in teaching
- Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Physics, or closely related field
- Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience at the college level
- Online teaching experience at an accredited college or university
- Experience in teaching upper or lower-division physics courses utilizing current supporting technology at the University level
- Familiarity with accreditation processes (e.g. SACSCOC, ABET, etc.) and assessment, including data collection, organization, and analysis
- Research interest and efforts would be viewed favorably
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to assist with university and professional service activities, including national and international outreach to, and collaboration with, industry and other academic institutions
