Job Summary

Lecturer of Dance at Union College with a six-course teaching load (five course equivalents plus one course release for coordinating and mentoring) plus one additional course equivalent of co-curricular duties. Responsibilities include coordinating the Dance Program’s activities, planning the program calendar, serving as liaison between student dance organizations, developing guest artist residencies and workshops, and collaborating with the Director to expand interdisciplinary offerings. Requires an MFA in dance or equivalent, professional experience as a performer/choreographer, and ability to teach a range of technique and choreography practicum classes to mixed-level students; candidates should demonstrate openness to diverse forms of expression and interdisciplinary connections. Location: Schenectady, NY. Salary range: $68,500–$70,500 annually.

Required Qualifications

  • MFA in dance or other comparable performance area
  • experience in dance at an academic level
  • professional experience as performer and/or choreographer
  • ability to integrate performers with varied experience levels
  • openness to diversity of expression and innovation in dance forms
  • ability to teach full-credit choreography courses and histories across multiple disciplines
