Job Summary
Lecturer/Junior Lecturer position focusing on delivering CAT and Curriculum Studies modules across B.Ed. 1–4, integrating CAT with teacher-education goals, and supporting deep learning. Responsibilities include curriculum alignment with CAPS and B.Ed. outcomes, developing valid and fair assessments, managing moderation for PATs and portfolios, mentoring pre-service teachers, supervising teaching practice, ensuring ethical ICT use, engaging with school-based CAT assessment practices, and contributing to quality assurance, research involvement, and program evaluation. The role requires an Honours (or Master’s) degree in CAT, a CAT major at undergraduate level, a teaching qualification with CAT, and several years of CAT teaching experience at secondary or tertiary levels, with a preference for those meeting Lecturer-level criteria. Hybrid teaching/learning capability and LMS administration (Blackboard) are emphasized, alongside responsibilities in academic administration and governance.
Required Qualifications
- A relevant Honours degree in Computer Applications Technology (CAT)
- Computer Applications Technology (CAT) as a major at the undergraduate level
- A relevant teaching qualification with CAT as a major (preferably at secondary school level)
- At least three years' relevant experience teaching CAT at secondary school level, or at least two years' experience teaching CAT at tertiary level
- Experience in the preparation, evaluation and moderation of meaningful teaching experiences for FET Phase CAT students
- Teaching or mentoring experience with pre-service teachers
- Experience with WIL supervision
- Preference given to applicants who meet Lecturer level requirements
