Job Summary
Lecturer to deliver scholarship-informed teaching on early modern British and European history, including the second-year module Reformation and Revolution: Tudors to Georgians, and a section on Renaissance within a third-year historiography module. Duties include teaching, supervising undergraduate dissertations, providing academic advising, sign-posting students with wellbeing needs, contributing to module design and development, delivering technology-enhanced learning, engaging in outreach and external engagement, promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, undertaking administrative tasks, and contributing to the School’s teaching and scholarship objectives. Requires excellent communication, inclusive teaching practices, and a track record of high-quality scholarship in the field. PhD in History is required and the post is full-time and fixed-term for 18 months starting 1 September 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Completion and award of a PhD in History
- Experience in high-quality scholarship-informed university teaching in early modern history
- Experience of giving students individual academic guidance and sign-posting students with more complex well-being needs to appropriate services
- Experience of design or delivery in technology-enhanced learning
- A track record of high-quality scholarly outputs appropriate to career stage
- A strong record of scholarship in early modern history commensurate with career stage
- Ability to work collaboratively and undertake administrative duties as required
- Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and widening participation
