Job Summary
Lecturer to deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and workshops in Hospitality & Tourism for the Bachelor of Business (BBus) programme. Responsibilities include designing and updating course materials to align with industry trends and academic standards; mentoring students; assessing progress through assignments, projects, and examinations; collaborating with faculty and industry experts to enhance learning outcomes; staying current with developments in Tourism management and Hospitality operations; contributing to faculty research, programme reviews, and curriculum development. The role requires a Master’s degree (or post-graduate qualification in related field), prior tertiary teaching experience, industry experience in hospitality/tourism, and proficiency with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas). Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to engage diverse, multicultural cohorts are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Master of International Hospitality Management or minimum post-graduate qualification in related field
- Previous teaching experience in tertiary education
- Proven industry experience in hospitality, tourism, or service management
- Strong understanding of the New Zealand tourism and hospitality landscape
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas)
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment design
- Strong knowledge of current trends and practices in the Hospitality & Tourism sector
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively teach and engage diverse, multicultural cohorts
