Job Summary
Secure and manage speaking engagements, lectures, workshops, and event appearances for authors and talent. Develop relationships with conference organizers, universities, corporations, and libraries to negotiate fees, contracts, and engagement terms. Serve as the primary point of contact for authors regarding logistics while collaborating with Editorial, Publicity, and Marketing teams to align events with book launches and campaigns. Track bookings, contracts, revenue, and performance metrics to identify new markets and opportunities. This role supports Macmillan Publishers' authors and talent across the U.S. and international markets.
Required Qualifications
- Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills
- Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, talent, and internal stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for books, authors, storytelling, and audience engagement
- 3+ years of experience in talent representation, publishing, speaker relations, public relations, events, business development, or a related field
- Experience working with authors, speakers, creators, or other talent
- Familiarity with the publishing, audiobook, media, or education industries
- Experience reviewing or negotiating contracts
- Knowledge of Salesforce or other customer relationship management databases
- Bachelor's degree
