Job Summary
Leave Substitute - Primary School Spanish Homeroom Teacher (August 2026–November 2026) at Awty International School. Responsibilities include planning and implementing engaging lessons in Spanish for a self-contained Grade 1 class, differentiating instruction, assessing student progress, maintaining strong relationships with students and families, and supporting language acquisition and cultural understanding. The role requires leading multiple subjects in the target language, creating inclusive, developmentally appropriate lessons, collaborating with colleagues, communicating with parents, and participating in professional development and school-wide activities. The ideal candidate will hold a BA in Elementary Education (or related field), have at least five years of full-time teaching experience, native Spanish proficiency, and demonstrate strong pedagogy, digital proficiency, and intercultural understanding; a Master’s degree and IB PYP experience are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- BA or equivalent in Elementary Education (or related field)
- At least five years full-time teaching experience
- Native-speaker proficiency in target instructional language (Spanish)
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master degree in Elementary Education (or related field)
- Certification in elementary education and/or related subject area
- International and/or independent school experience
- International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) experience
- Bilingual (or highly proficient) in English
- Demonstrated digital proficiency in current tools and platforms (electronic gradebooks, Learning Management Systems, online learning platforms, digital portfolios, AI assisted technology, etc.)
