Job Summary
The Leave Of Absence (LOA) Specialist administers end-to-end leaves of absence programs (including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, SDI, and company policy leaves) with a focus on compliance and accurate documentation, while supporting benefits billing and related administrative functions. Responsibilities include updating LOA records, ensuring seamless pay and benefits continuity during leaves, educating employees and managers on LOA policies, collaborating with Employee Relations and Payroll, and contributing to process improvements. The role requires intermediate Excel skills for tracking and reporting, and a customer-service oriented approach in a sedentary, primarily online work environment. Knowledge of federal and California LOA laws, strong communication, attention to detail, and cross-functional collaboration are essential for success.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in LOA administration, benefits administration, or a related HR function
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and California LOA laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, SDI)
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, reporting)
- Excellent customer service skills with a patient and empathetic approach
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Employee Relations, Payroll, etc.)
- Ability and desire to continuously learn and stay updated on LOA compliance and best practices
- Experience in benefits billing and administration highly preferred
- LOA-related certifications (e.g., CLMS, CPDM, FMLA certification) are a plus
