Job Summary
Assist claimants with paid leave of absence requests, process paperwork according to established procedures, and make timely, accurate claim decisions by comparing information against contract terms and regulations. Render recommendations to approve or deny Statutory Paid Leave based on state laws, coordinate correspondence via the claim system, and generate required reports while maintaining complete records of all LOA requests. Provide guidance on leave situations within policy and legal guidelines, contact providers for clarification, and support management with special projects as necessary. This hybrid role requires reporting to an Aflac office in Windsor, CT, for at least 60% of the week, with a salary range of $40,000 to $58,000.
Required Qualifications
- Current knowledge of the absence management industry
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to manage difficult and stressful situations
- Strong communication skills – written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, facilitation of strong working relationships
- Ability to manage business expectations and resolve concerns, by communicating status and issues
- Ability to effectively prioritize and escalate customer issues
- Ability to interpret and analyze multiple facts
- Knowledge of state and federal FMLA regulations
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1 - 2 years of professional job-related experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Windsor, CT, for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week.
Desired Qualifications
- Paid Family and Medical Leave experience a plus
- Knowledge of medical disability management preferred
- Associates Degree
- Demonstrated proficiency in product specific areas of Absence Management and federal and state regulations governing these products and services
