Lease Operator I

Job Summary
Conduct daily well checks, monitor production, and safely operate company vehicles to and from lease sites. Perform foundational field operations including tank gauging, color cuts, and basic maintenance tasks such as changing stuffing box rubbers and repairing equipment. Adjust chemical rates, verify production data against system inputs, and operate artificial lift methods like pumping units and gas lifts. Maintain clean, environmentally compliant lease sites and manage company-issued tools, vehicles, and communication devices. Complete 30-day training under a qualified operator before 90-day competency evaluation. This safety-sensitive role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 50 pounds, and proficiency in oilfield terminology and production systems.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Capable of responding quickly and appropriately to potentially hazardous situations
- Physically able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Sufficient visual acuity
- Sufficient hearing
- Sufficient verbal communication abilities
- Able to climb ladders and stairwells up to 15 feet in height
- Able to work effectively in both hot and cold weather conditions
- Demonstrate integrity
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to learn
- Basic understanding of oilfield equipment and terminology
- Ability to use and data entry in production systems (eVIN, Ignition)
- Ability to gauge tanks and perform color cuts
- Ability to understand directional flow, pressures, tank levels, and verify production data against system inputs (eVIN/Field Ops, Ignition/zdSCADA)
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and field tasks, including changing stuffing box rubbers, pulling and inspecting plungers, adjusting, monitoring, and reporting chemical rates, repairing and kitting basic equipment
- Ability to perform all duties in a safety-sensitive role, adhering to all company safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles while traveling to and from lease sites
- Ability to conduct daily well checks and monitor production on assigned leases
- Ability to perform basic operation of artificial lift methods: pumping units, gas lifts, ESPs, PAGL, and flowing wells
- Ability to maintain clean, orderly, and environmentally compliant lease sites
- Ability to maintain company-issued tools, phone, computer, and vehicle
