Job Summary
Provide direct services to students in preschool through 8th grade with identified learning disabilities, including dyslexia, ADHD, and executive functioning deficits. Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement Educational Accommodations Plans (EAPs) that support academic, social, and emotional growth. Conduct assessments, analyze data, and design academic interventions addressing reading, writing, math, and study skills. Partner with specialists such as speech and occupational therapists to support diverse learners while identifying and enriching gifted students. Serve as a resource and advocate for families and students to ensure appropriate support services. This part-time role (50% FTE, M-F mornings) runs during the 2026-2027 school year at St. Thomas School in Medina, Washington.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- Special Education Certification
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a special education or learning support role
- Experience working with diverse learners and developing and implementing academic interventions at various grade levels
- Knowledge of up-to-date evidence based best practices and strategies related to special education, including gifted education
- Strong understanding and experience with multi-sensory literacy and math instruction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience successfully managing multiple projects at one time
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including students, families, teachers, and administrators
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the children and program
- Ability to work outside in all weather
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Some travel may be required (field trips)
