Job Summary
The LMS Administrator advances CT State’s remote learning initiatives by serving as the functional lead for the Learning Management System (LMS) and its integrations across campuses. Responsibilities include supervising LMS performance, investigating technical/operational issues, maintaining and expanding LMS functionality across online, Live Remote, HyFlex, and web-enhanced delivery modes, and collaborating with IT, Teaching and Learning, and academic offices. The role requires leading LMS-related requests for course creation and management, coordinating with CSCU partners on connectivity with third-party systems (SIS, SSO, LTI, etc.), providing training in face-to-face, virtual, and e-learning formats, prioritizing and resolving support needs with internal and external providers, and serving as the primary LMS administrator. The position also involves maintaining nonproduction environments with stakeholders, documenting processes for security and consistency, and contributing to state-wide professional development initiatives related to the LMS and online pedagogy. A Master’s degree and four years of related experience are required, with preferred qualifications including LMS administration experience in multi-site higher education, project management, and SQL proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, or related field; four (4) years of related experience
- Experience as an administrator or super user on a Learning Management System (such as Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace)
- Experience in Information Technology, Service Desk Support, or Systems Management
- Familiarity with training methodology
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
