Job Summary

Learning & Development Specialist at UW Facilities leads the design, delivery, scheduling, and tracking of professional development courses for UW Facilities employees, serves as primary instructor and administrator for the Stepping Stones to Success leadership program, collaborates on training strategy, mentors interns, manages budgets and vendor payments, coordinates with managers to identify training gaps, and analyzes training effectiveness to drive continuous improvement. Onsite at the Facilities Training Center with potential 1-2 days per week remote, the role requires strong instructional design, curriculum development, stakeholder collaboration, data-driven analysis, and ability to manage multiple delivery formats across complex programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3-4 years of progressively responsible experience in training, communication, program coordination or management positions
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training curriculum, including learning objectives, instructional materials, and assessments
  • Ability to present and speak publicly to a wide variety of audiences
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proven experience building and maintaining records
  • Strong communication and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organization and in a variety of roles
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion and tact, with both individuals and teams
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work both independently, with minimum supervision, and as part of a team
  • Self-starter that can work in an unstructured and ambiguous work environment
  • Demonstrated ability using critical thinking skills to problem solve in the moment
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and experience including the ability to write, edit and proof business documents and training materials
  • Preferred Qualifications Experience with Learning Management Systems
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design theory (e.g., Andragogy, ADDIE, or similar frameworks)
  • 1–2 years of experience supervising, mentoring, or providing formal guidance to staff, students, or interns
