Job Summary

Partner with subject matter experts and the wider learning team to identify training needs, define learning objectives, and conduct needs assessments tailored to organisational requirements. Design curricula and instructional materials including eLearning modules, animated videos, and job aids aligned to strategic goals while applying adult learning principles. Deliver training across digital platforms using Learning Management Systems, administer content to ensure accurate delivery and tracking, and design assessments to measure learner progress. Evaluate training impact through feedback and analytics to refine content, maintaining materials to reflect evolving technologies and industry best practices. Collaborate cross-functionally with trainers and stakeholders to ensure successful rollout of training initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Education, PGCE, Instructional Design, Learning Design or a related qualification
  • 3 to 5 years proven experience as a Learning Designer or in a similar role
  • Experience working in an operational environment in a Learning Design role
  • Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise
  • Skilled in using Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Talent LMS, eFront or Docebo
  • Ability to use graphic design or multimedia tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro or Vyond
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with a focus on plain language and instructional clarity
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to design for diverse learners

Desired Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in Instructional Design, video animation, editing or eLearning Development are advantageous
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for content generation, and voiceover tools such as ElevenLabs, is advantageous
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry is advantageous
  • Preference will be given to candidates from Designated Groups, as defined by the Employment Equity Act and in line with Herotel's Employment Equity Plan
