Job Summary
The Learning and Development Subject Matter Expert for York chiller products will bridge Engineering, Product Development, Learning and Development, and Field operations to ensure technical knowledge flows accurately and accessibly. You will translate deep chiller expertise into field-ready training content, shape technically sound learning solutions, mentor chiller mechanics and technicians, participate in design reviews, gather field feedback, and evaluate innovative tools (AR/VR, simulation) to advance field readiness and competency. You will also support development of documents, job aids, troubleshooting trees, and other resources, while maintaining relationships with regional leadership and ensuring training remains aligned with product changes and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience with York chiller products including operational checks, monitoring, troubleshooting, startup, controls, and refrigerant management across multiple chiller platforms (centrifugal, screw, air-cooled, absorption)
- Experience in chiller service, engineering, or product support with a strong preference for Johnson Controls context or closely related roles
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, field-ready learning content for audiences from new mechanics to HVAC leadership
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, HVAC/R Technology, or related technical field; equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience considered
- Strong written and verbal communication, relationship-building, and mentoring skills
- Experience with product design reviews, field quality reviews, and cross-functional collaboration
- Familiarity with adult learning principles, instructional design concepts, and digital learning tools (simulation, AR/VR)
- Knowledge of York chiller technologies (centrifugal, screw, air-cooled, absorption) and refrigerant management
- Experience developing competency frameworks, skill assessments, and certification pathways
- Willingness to collaborate with engineering, product development, and field teams to translate changes into field-ready content
