Job Summary
Teach group ice skating lessons for 3 to adult participants (4–10 per class) at multiple Mississauga arenas, with 30–50 minute sessions, primarily evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include delivering inclusive lessons under supervision, ensuring participant safety, verifying equipment fit and safety, preparing weekly lesson plans, applying HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development, providing quality customer service, managing class lists and progress cards, and performing related duties. Requires minimum age 15, applicable skating experience, valid First Aid/CPR, HIGH FIVE certification, Vulnerable Sector Check, ability to work in cold environments, and own skates with CSA helmet. The position offers up to 24 hours per week at multiple city recreation sites and pays $21.51–$26.24 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of age
- Figure Skating, Hockey, Recreational skating lessons or Ringette experience
- Must hold a valid Emergency or Standard First Aid certificate with CPR B or C (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John's Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol)
- Must hold a valid HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
- Ability to work with children and adults
- Ability to stand/skate for extended periods of time in a cold environment
- Must provide own skates and CSA approved helmet or Wuevo Figure Skating Helmet
- A Level 3 - Vulnerable Sector Check will be required (at employee expense)
- Strong leadership, organizational and planning skills
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Previous customer service experience is an asset
