Job Summary
The League Manager in Oakville will serve as the operational core for Brodie League, overseeing season operations, youth programming, and community engagement to ensure game nights run smoothly and uphold a premium Brodie experience. Responsibilities include building and managing season schedules across divisions and gyms, handling team placement and captain onboarding, running high-quality game nights with appropriate officials and setup, managing standings and weekly results, executing playoffs, and supporting youth programming and community relations. The role also covers facilities and logistics, including booking court time and maintaining venue standards, as well as data and reporting on registrations and capacity. Candidates should have direct basketball experience or coaching/leadership of youth programs, stellar communication and relationship-building skills, reliable transportation for equipment, weekend availability, and the ability to operate as a self-employed contractor in Ontario. Artificial intelligence disclosure may be used in recruitment. This is a contract engagement in Ontario with no employment benefits, governed by a written contractor agreement.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in sports, recreation, community programming, coaching, education, events, hospitality, or customer-facing operations
- Experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, or leading youth programs, camps, sports teams, or community initiatives
- Strong passion for basketball and the culture surrounding the game
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Reliable access to transportation sufficient to transport league equipment and materials
- Demonstrated ability to create positive experiences for participants, customers, or community members
- Availability to work weekends, as game nights and programming require
- Must operate as a self-employed individual and be responsible for all tax remittances and HST obligations where applicable
