Job Summary
Conduct and oversee annual load tests, aerial device inspections, and operational readiness evaluations for ARFF vehicles, fire apparatus, and emergency response equipment to ensure NFPA compliance. Coordinate daily work activities for technicians, assigning preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Provide hands-on leadership in troubleshooting vehicle faults involving computer-controlled systems, multiplex wiring, and diagnostic software. Mentor EVT Level I and II technicians, deliver training on maintenance best practices, and monitor employee performance and safety adherence. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage reports using government management systems. Lead emergency or priority maintenance activities to support mission-critical equipment and perform final acceptance inspections. Serve as acting supervisor during management absences to ensure workflow continuity.
Required Qualifications
- 5-8 years minimum of hands-on experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair
- High School Diploma/GED
- Proficient in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment including wheeled and tracked vehicles, power generation systems, and material handling machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, lube orders, and wiring diagrams
- Skilled in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems troubleshooting
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and Air Force maintenance protocols
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access

- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time
- ASE (T-1 through T-7, and L-2) and EVT (F-1 through F-6 and A-1 through A-3) Certifications required, or must be in the process of testing for ASE certification supporting EVT LVL III Fire Apparatus and ARFF Vehicle Technician
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time
- Must be able to climb in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs
