Lead Writer, Executive Office (Job ID: 2026-3890)

Job Summary

Serve as the president's primary speechwriter and communications partner, drafting concise remarks for internal and external events, developing board meeting reports, and creating scripts for all-staff town halls. Manage the full lifecycle of presentation development, including fact-checking, outline refinement, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging that reflects the president's voice. Write and edit all-staff emails, donor correspondence, and social media posts while supporting the vice president of communications on internal and external written initiatives. This role requires regular in-person work at the Washington, DC office, generally four to five days per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related public-policy field
  • Master's degree
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience
  • experience providing staff support for executive leaders
  • experience in research and analysis to support writing in a principal's voice
  • History of writing knowledgeably and comfortably about public policy issues to broad general audiences
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills
  • ability to adapt voice and tone to match the speaker

  • Proven ability to advise senior leaders with confidence and discretion
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
