Lead Welding Field Engineer

Job Summary
Lead a team to implement and manage Bechtel Field Welding program; provide technical direction to support project welding initiatives; review scheduled work plans, participate in production meetings, and conduct program audits. Ensure welding program compliance and availability of welder resources to support planned work scopes. Responsibilities include specialized welding engineering support, managing pre-/post-weld heat treatment programs, rod room material control, coordinating NDE with construction and subcontractors, managing the welding test lab, maintaining welder qualifications and stamps, performing field welding inspections, and potentially leading Pre/PWHT programs for subcontractors and direct hires.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or international equivalent
- 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- NDE Certifications including PT, MT and LT (Vac Box)
- Knowledge of AWS, API, NFPA, AWWA, ASTM and ASNT codes, specifications, and standards
- Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience
- Advanced knowledge/certifications in SMAW/GTAW/GMAW/FCAW
- Preheat/Post weld heat treatment experience
- Bechtel welding program experience and related Bechtel standards
- Certifiable by written examination to Bechtel's nondestructive examination requirements as NDE Level II Visual Examination
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, WITs, Teamwork’s, Arc Stryker, Pipe Fighter
