Job Summary
Oversee daily fabrication activities by reading electrical, piping, and mechanical prints to fabricate and assemble products using drawings, sketches, and verbal direction. Direct a team of skilled welders and fabricators on jobsite installations while performing tasks with hand and power tools, overhead cranes, and fork trucks. Assist in training less experienced mechanics and ensure all work adheres to safety standards and quality specifications. Lead planning and execution of tasks independently up to final review. Support Surface Combustion's industrial heat treatment solutions across agricultural, automotive, oil & gas, and powder metals sectors.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Some level of continuing education that is related
- Strong mechanical ability
- Proficient in wielding processes necessary for SCI manufacturing
- Ability to read electrical prints & layouts
- Ability to read piping prints (two-lined & isometric)
- Ability to read mechanical prints
- Ability to read and understand suppliers' instructions
- Proficiency in some forms of process and tack wielding
- Basic electrical skills including lay out and mount conduit and pull & terminate wire
- Ability to lay out, cut & thread, and mount piping systems
- Ability to set and align motors, pumps, other mechanical components
- Ability to lay out, set, level & align furnace drive systems
- Ability to use overhead cranes and fork trucks to set up and/or move equipment
- Ability to assist in loading and unloading equipment
- Ability to perform jobsite installations as part of a field team and as a team leader
- Ability to assist in the training of less skilled or less experienced mechanics
- Ability to plan and carry out tasks or work on projects independently up to final review and decisions
- Ability to direct the work of other others to fabricate and assemble products by using drawings, sketches, and verbal direction
