Job Summary
Lead Underwriter responsible for directing underwriting strategy and risk selection for complex risks within a specialized segment. Oversees underwriting operations to ensure adherence to carrier guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements; drives portfolio performance and profitability. Provides leadership to underwriting teams, escalates complex issues, mentors staff, and builds relationships with brokers, agents, and market partners to support growth; analyzes market trends and data to inform pricing and product development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field (preferred).
- Extensive underwriting experience in commercial or specialty lines.
- Proven leadership experience managing underwriting teams and driving performance.
- Certifications/licensing: relevant state insurance licenses required based on role responsibilities; CPCU or equivalent designations preferred.
