Job Summary
Design transmission lines from 69kV to 765kV, mentor team members, and coordinate activities to ensure compliance with specifications and client requirements. Prepare technical reports and studies meeting S&L formats, perform independent reviews of calculations and PLS-CADD models, and lead others in applying automation and AI to improve workflows and reduce rework. This role requires a BS in engineering, 12 years of transmission design experience, and proficiency with PLS-CADD. The position is hybrid with three in-office days per week. Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor work authorization for this role.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 12 years of transmission design experience
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD software
- Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV
- Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI
- Experience reviewing design drawings created by others
- Experience must include preparation of scopes of work
- Experience must include development of conceptual designs
- Experience must include determination of design basis
- Experience must include the selection of equipment and materials
- Experience must include the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
- This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week

Desired Qualifications
- PE license
- PMP certification
- Construction experience
- Familiarity with ArcGIS
- AI & Automation at Sargent & Lundy
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
- We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
