Job Summary
Coordinate with a lead guide to plan, implement, and manage the classroom using Montessori principles while managing the physical care of children aged 3 to 6. Ensure daily care by following all licensing guidelines, maintaining visual supervision, and preparing the environment based on observed child needs. Model pro social behavior, redirect children with positive discipline, and form respectful relationships with families and co-teachers. Document observations regularly, provide developmental reports to parents, and lead level meetings to ensure curriculum coordination. Maintain a safe, clean classroom and keep up with required training and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years working in early childhood education
- Montessori/RIE caregiving techniques
- Positive Discipline
- Skilled in observation techniques and documentation
- Communication skills (oral and written)
- Must be able to lift, move, or hold children with weight up to 60 pounds
- Must be able to observe children from various distances
- Must be able to lift children from various heights
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle or feel
- Must have the ability navigate uneven outdoor terrain for limited periods of time in various mild to moderate weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- B.A. or B.S. early childhood education or child development
- Masters in related fields
- MACTE Accredited Montessori certification
- 5+ years working in Montessori programming
- Montessori pedagogy
- Fluency in languages other than English
- Experience working with neurodivergent children in a group setting
