Job Summary
Lead Technician responsible for servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of Hitachi Rail rolling stock assets. Performs planned and reactive maintenance on a structured days/nights shift; operates in a safety-critical environment requiring adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality practices. Works within a small, collaborative team and may engage in lone-working as needed. Must reside within one hour’s travel of the Neville Hill depot. Reads and interprets traction and rolling stock drawings, prepares for and carries out component removal/replacement, modification/manufacture by material removal, and installation using defined engineering processes. Supports reliability improvements, spans liaison with internal and external stakeholders, and maintains SAP records. Requires HNC/NVQ3 level engineering qualifications, manual handling certification, high voltage electrics experience, and a valid UK driving license. Emphasizes a professional, team-oriented approach with strong communication skills and knowledge of rail regulations.
Required Qualifications
- HNC in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
- Manual Handling certification
- Experience with high voltage electrics
- UK Driving Licence
- Knowledge of rail and health & safety regulations
- Rolling stock maintenance and fault-finding experience
