Job Summary
Lead Technician – Heavy-Duty Diesel Truck: Oversees daily shop operations, performs advanced diagnostics and repairs on Class 7–8 trucks, and leads the maintenance team to maximize fleet uptime. Responsibilities include assigning and supervising technicians, providing hands-on training, onboarding safety procedures, performing diagnostics across diesel engines, emissions and aftertreatment, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, brakes, electrical, and HVAC systems; using OEM software (Cummins Insite, Detroit DiagnosticLink, Bendix ACom, WABCO, Tech Tool, DAVIE4); conducting DOT inspections; enforcing safe shop practices; managing work orders, parts, and documentation; coordinating with leadership and customers; and supporting warranty claims and vendor coordination. Key skills include leadership, technical troubleshooting, communication, documentation, safety focus, and time management.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic (Class 7–8)
- Advanced knowledge of: Diesel engines
- Air systems
- Electrical diagnostics
- Aftertreatment systems
- Previous experience leading a team or serving as a senior/lead technician
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities using OEM software
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and perform physically demanding work in a shop environment
